4. Plant impact records

Plant impact records show the equipment used, delayed, or made idle because of the variation.

Record:

  • plant item
  • quantity
  • plant ID or supplier
  • wet hire or dry hire status
  • operator impact, if relevant
  • hours used
  • hours idle, if relevant
  • hourly, daily, or shift rate
  • rate basis
  • hire docket or invoice
  • photos showing the work or downtime

Example:

If the variation caused plant to sit idle, record that separately from plant used to complete the changed work.

Material records show the physical items, quantities, and costs required because of the variation.

  • material take-offs

  • testing or inspection costs

Record the material type, quantity, location, and reason it was required.
